The following instructions will help you achieve the best results from your Photo Facial treatment. Please take a moment to review this information and go over any questions and/or concerns you may have with your consultant.
Please note that permanent hair reduction may be a side effect and take this into consideration if you are planning on growing a goatee or beard.
Post Treatment Considerations
Please be advised that you may experience a certain degree of discomfort, redness, heat and/or irritation during and after treatment. If any discomfort or irritation persists, please notify the clinic.
You may experience mild swelling for one to three days after treatment. Apply an icepack to the irritated area for one to two days, in approximately 15 minutes intervals, three to four times per day.
Redness for 2 to 3 days is a common side effect. You may apply hydrocortisone cream to reduce the redness. Makeup can be applied 24 hours after treatment.
Brown spots and/or freckles may turn darker and then flake or crumble off during and after treatment, for up to 7 days. It may get worse before it gets better. Please be patient.
Ask one of our staff members to recommend products to use for post-treatment care. It is important to keep your skin hydrated and adopt the use of sun-block as your daily regimen, as well as covering up by wearing a hat when outdoors.
After treatment, wash your face or other treated areas with lukewarm water and gentle cleansers.
As a rare side effect, a blister may occur. Please be sure to notify the clinic of this occurrence so we may guide you in the appropriate steps for healing. Burning/blistering is a side effect, not a complication of this treatment, dealt with properly no scarring will occur. Be sure to gently wash the area and demonstrate “moist healing” using an antibiotic ointment such as Bacitracin, twice daily.
It is recommended to have a minimum of 5 treatments, each treatment being 3 to 4 weeks apart for a maximum benefit of the PhotoFacial program.
Only 10% of the sun damage appears on the surface of the skin. More sun exposure and time gradually brings the damage to the surface of the skin. To maintain the results obtained from your PhotoFacial series it is recommended that you follow up at least once a year after your last PhotoFacial treatment has been completed for maintenance treatments.
Contact the clinic if any questions or concerns should arise.
