BBL (Broadband Light) – BEAUTIFUL SKIN IN A FLASH!

Worried your age spots or Rosacea make you look less radiant? With BBL they will be a thing of the past.

BBL (BroadBand Light) is the world’s most powerful IPL device on the market. It sets a new standard in treating skin conditions.

How does it work?

The light energy delivered by BBL will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. This corrective process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it clearer, smoother, vibrant and younger looking.

BBL stimulates cells to regenerate, while also stimulating the production of collagen, which gives structure to your skin. Typically with the first treatment you will start to see smoother, more even, more vibrant looking skin. The photothermal energy will eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin that produces age and sun spots. Your skin will feel smoother, pores will be less noticeable, and uneven pigmentation will fade.

What does it treat?

  • Skin conditions such as Rosacea, redness, spider veins and acne
  • Minimizes the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles
  • Evens out skin tone and texture, large pores and dull skin
  • Vascular lesions
  • Melasma and hyperpigmentation

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient and your clinician will personalize a treatment plan based on your needs and desired outcome.

What will happen during treatment?

The procedures is gentle and safe. Generally there is no need for a topical anesthetic. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. Your clinician will apply a cooling gel to the treatment area. You may briefly feel a warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take as little as a few minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your clinician will discuss all of your options with you including the benefits, risks and what to expect.

What should I expect after the treatment?

You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Consult your clinician if it does not. For some spots, you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Results depend on your skin type, the number of treatments and the area treated. Typically you can expect to see visible changes to your skin within a few days or week sof your first BBL treatment. You’ll see more significant results with continued treatment.

How long will it take to recover and what aftercare procedure should I follow?

This is a non-invasive and typically gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work, and resume most of your activities immediately. Your clinician will provide you with more information on what to expect as well as give you an aftercare plan to follow that will involve avoiding direct sun exposure and using sun screen.

Preparing for your treatment

Avoid direct sunlight for 4-6 weeks before and after each session. Do not use a sunless tanner for at least 2 weeks before your treatment. Avoid waxing, chemical peels and products containing retinol, salicylic acid or glycolic acid at least one week prior to treatment.

Several studies point to the effectiveness of BBL in improving the appearance of skin. A small 2019 study examined the effects of 5 BBL treatments every 2 weeks and found that BBL is a safe and mildly effective method for reducing enlarged facial pores.

Another small 2019 study found that three BBL treatment settings were effective in tightening skin. All three techniques showed improvements in zygomatic (cheekbone) wrinkles, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.

Research from 2020 suggests that BBL safely and effectively improves the appearance of senile purpura and prevents new lesions. BBL treatments increase the thickness of your epidermis (outer layer of skin) and improve collagen and elasticity, which enhances the skin’s structure.
