Laser Hair Removal – Post Care Instructions
How it works:
- Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a laser, or an intense, pulsed light to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, light travels through the skin to an individual hair follicle (the target). Light converts heat and damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth.
- Treatments are done in a series of 6-10, at 4 to 12 week intervals.
- It is very important to keep to the interval schedule, as we are targeting the actively growing hair phase.
Post-procedure:
- You can expect mild redness for 1-2 hours post treatment.
- After each laser treatment, you can expect the hair to fall out between 10-21 days.
- All hairs are not in the same growth phase; only the hairs in the Anagen will allow the hair follicle to be destroyed.
- You can continue to shave or trim the areas being treated throughout your hair removal process.
- Avoid tub baths or Jacuzzis for 24 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid sun exposure for 2-weeks post procedure, and 3-4 weeks before your next treatment.
- Every effort is made to provide a safe treatment; however, there is always the risk of a burn or blister. Early intervention and treatment of burns or blisters can minimize or eliminate long term permanent complications; therefore, if a burn or a blister becomes evident after leaving the clinic, it is important to notify the office within 24 hours.
- Please contact the office with any questions or concerns.
