Derma Health Skin & Laser is one of the first Medical Aesthetic Clinics in the Phoenix market to introduce QWO – a revolutionary FDA-approved injectable treatment for cellulite!
QWO is the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable that treats moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. It works by targeting and dissolving the thick, fibrous connective bands which create the visual effects of cellulite. While at the same time redistributing and smoothing out the fat cells in the treated area and stimulating new collagen growth.
QWO effectively reduces the appearance of cellulite, smooths the dimpling effective and promotes firmness and fullness without surgery and extensive down time.
Derma Health now offers QWO cellulite treatments in each of our 3 clinics in North Phoenix, Chandler and Gilbert.
Research shows that 9 out of 10 women will experience cellulite in their lifetime. Regardless of whether you work out regularly, maintain an optimal body fat percentage or eat a healthy diet. Cellulite is just a simple fact of life for 90% of women. Here’s why:
Cellulite is caused by fat cells pushing through the tough connective bands (fibrous septae) that tether the dermis to the deep fascia. Women with cellulite tend to have thicker more rigid fibrous septae. Over time, fat tends to push against the skin and the demis will become thinner, resulting in the dimpling effect we call cellulite.
QWO is injected subcutaneously at the dimples. QWO releases the cellulite dimple which then allows the fat lobules to redistribute and spread out more evenly, which eliminates the dimpling effect of cellulite. At the same time, QWO stimulates neocollagenesis, resulting in the development of thinner, smaller fibrious septae. These thinner bands reduce tension and thicken the dermis creating a smoother appearance.
Most patients will require 3 separate treatments, spaced 21 days apart to fully release the fibrous bands for optimal results.
During your initial consultation, your medical provider will assess the cellulite on your buttocks to determine whether you are a candidate for QWO injections. Some patients may appear to have cellulite, when, in fact, they actually have lax or loose skin, which can mimic the visual effects of cellulite. In such cases, your provider will talk to you about other treatment options, such as Exilis Ultra, which is designed to tighten and tone lax skin.
If you are a candidate for QWO, your provider will take a series of photographs of your buttock prior to treatment. She will then mark the treatment areas and ask you to lay face down while she injects each cellulite dimple. There is no need for numbing cream to be applied as these injections are easily tolerated, but we can provide numbing cream upon request. Your provider will treat a maximum of 12 dimples on each buttock during a single visit. Your treatment time will only take about 10 to 15 minutes.
While there is no downtime after treatment and you may return to your normal activities the day after treatment, you should expect quite a bit of bruising for several weeks post treatment. The injection site may also be slightly tender and sore. Bruising is most evident during the first treatment and decreases in severity over the next two treatments. Visible results are seen at 10 weeks post treatment.
