You may have heard of the popular treatment often described as a vampire facial. What is it? What does it do? Why is it soooo popular?
Let’s get right to the facts.
The vampire facial is simply a microneedling treatment with an added injection to boost the results.
You may have seen Kim Kardashian get a vampire facial on her show. Yes it seems dramatic but really it’s a simple, quick and easy way to improve your skin’s tone, tightness and texture. Think of your skin’s tone in terms of evenness, brightness and discoloration.
- Do you have dark spots (hyperpigmentation), light spots (hypopigmentation), redness or dullness?
- Regarding skin texture…do you have large pores, blackheads or generally rough skin?
If you experience any of these issues you may be a good candidate for the treatment.
The Vampire Facial Process
That particular facial includes the process of extracting your own blood, processing that into platelet rich plasma (PRP) and then injecting that back into the skin with tiny microneedles. Derma Health has found that rather than going through that extraction and blood processing you can get even more reliable results with a growth serum. The serum is injected into the skin with the fine microneedling pen (and does not require a blood draw). In both cases the treatment will stimulate collagen and elastin fibers, making your skin smoother and more clear.
As well, Derma Health can also specifically treat skin tone or discoloration by injecting a professional grade lightening product (Hydroquinone or HQ) during the procedure.
The Microneedling Treatment
Your provider will apply a numbing cream to the the area prior to the treatment. The actual treatment will take about 30 minutes. And that’s it! Those little micro-injuries will heal naturally creating the collagen and elastin you need to maintain a smooth, youthful glow. Note: You may need 3-5 treatments to get the results you want especially if you are treating stretch marks or acne scarring.
