If you know anything about facial fillers, you know that the Juvederm family of fillers by Allergan, the makers of Botox, are the most common and diverse. There are several versions of the original Juvederm filler in use today and we will deep dive into the differences below.
All Juvederm fillers are made of a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts moisture adding to skin’s plump and hydrated look. The injectable material is a smooth gel and each type of product varies in consistency or viscocity. Think of fillers as a malleable, moldable sculpting clay (gel) that is injected under the skin and will dissipate over time. The more stiff and dense the product the more stable with greater lifting capability. The more liquid and flowing the material the more smoothing and modeling capability.

Fillers are an instant, safe and minimally invasive way to smooth and lift the facial features. We can’t stop the aging process but with good skin care and the use of fillers we can reduce the visible signs of aging. Fillers provide a subtle and long-lasting result but it’s important to maintain the effects with regular treatments to “top off” the fillers. This will save time and money in the long run. Imagine if you never filled your car tires with air until they were all completely flat, not only would it take more time and effort to correct the problem, it would require more product (air) to get the tires to optimal fullness.
